Tabaconas Namballe National Sanctuary

Located in the San Ignacio Province, in northern department of Cajamarca, its length is 29 500 Ha, was established in 1988 to preserve a unique very rare ecosystem in Peru, as is the moor.
The sanctuary Tabaconas Namballe was established on May 20, 1988 by Supreme Decree No. 058-1988 - AG, through which ensures the conservation of this area.
Its objectives are to preserve and protect creation of a representative sample of the area of Moor, endangered species as the "Bear Glasses" (Tremarctos ornatus), "Tapir Height" (Tapirus pinchaque) and Forests of Podocarpus, microbasins of Miraflores, Tabaconas and White rivers as well as incentive for research and recreation.
