According to your nationality, in some cases Peruvian law requires a visa to enter Peru, in some other cases the entrance with only an ID or the passport (not visa) is required.

Andean community

In case of citizens from: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, the law does not require people to get a visa. All the countries that belong to the Andean community can access Peru only with their ID or Passport.
The maximum days of stay accepted are 90 days (Extendable by the immigration authorities).
Western Europe and America
For the majority of citizens from South America, Western Europe, as well as for the united states and Canada the Visa is not required.
Nevertheless, a valid passport is required to enter and exit Peru. The traveler must show evidences of his/her return to his/her country or the continuation of the journey. The access is permitted only for 90 days, but the stay period is decided by the Migrations Department at the moment of entering the country.
Countries that require a visa
- The countries of Central America that required a valid visa are the following: Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panamá.
- In North America, Mexico is the only country which requires a valid visa.
- In South America, all the countries can enter Peru without the visa.
- In Africa, all the countries require a visa to enter Peru, expect for South Africa.
- The countries from Asia that require visa are: Philippines, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Republic of Korea and Singapore.
It is highly recommended checking the list of countries that required visa in the Consulate of Peru.
Process
At the moment of arriving into the Jorge Chavez International Airport, the Migration Deparment will indicate the number of days of your stay (generally 90 days).
Extension of Stay
If you would like to extend your visa it is required you to commute to any “Inmigrations Office” and an extension of stay 30 more days can be obtain this time. The first renovation does not have any cost, nevertheless, the next extensions have an approximate cost of $.30.00.
If you would like to extend your stay longer than a month, you are required to leave the country and re-enter, also do all the paperwork again. El Renovation process takes less than one hour.
The people who stays a longer period without getting a proper extension of a visa or a resident visa will have to pay a fine when leaving Peru.
Business, Work or Study
For those who come to Peru with non-touristic purposes, they must obtain a peruvian visa beforehand.
Also, it is advisable to gather some information about taxes and the exit regulations regarding the type of visa requested.
