Cathedral of the city of Chiclayo

Church in chiclayo

It dates back from 1869 and is constructed in the neoclassic style. It shows a facade of two sides,held up by Doric columns. In this church stands out the image of the "Poor Christ" carved in wood.

Municipal palace of Chiclayo

A Republican building with large windows and forged iron doors. It dates back from 1919 and is estimated that cost more than 30 thousand gold pounds.

La Veronica Chapel

It is a construction from the last century, related to the doctrinal chapels of the XVI Century,it was declared a National Historical monument because of its unique structure in its genre.

Elía Aguirre square

It is located in the intersection between Elías Aguirre and San Jose streets. It was built in 1924 as an homenage to Elías Aguirre, Commander and hero of Angamos combat, and was a work of the Peruvian sculptor David Lozano.

Located at 46 km to the south of Chiclayo city (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus). In zaña we can see the rests of what was a virreinal city founded in 1563. It is a ghost town,origin of legends and stories , like the one that narrates the invasion and sacking done by the pirate Edward David Lozano.

Artisan market of Monsefú

It is located at 14 km to the south of Chiclayo (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus). Monsefú is a traditional town recognized by its straw weaves - hats, baskets, knapsack - cotton and thread. Its embroiderings stand out since they are even made of gold threads and silver. Delicate napkins, embroidered table cloths, blouses, skirts, "ponchos" and mantles can be acquired. Besides, this town has an impressive church called "Jesús Nazareno"

This town is located at 22,4 km to the south of the city of Chiclayo (approximately to 25 minutes by bus).This town also is a place of famous and traditional straw crafts. It is a land of religious fervor, it is told by the locals that in 1649, people saw the figure of the Jesus as a child. It has nice houses and a beautiful square as well.

Archaeological complex of "Huaca Rajada"(Mr. of Sipán)

This complex is at 35 km to the Southeastern of Chiclayo (approximately 45 minutes by car). The archaeological complex displays different areas that consist of yards, monumental cemeteries, domestic areas, fortifications, etc. This wealthy Pre-Inca Sanctuary is located in the limits of the Pomalca ex-hacienda and is considered as the most important site of the Moche Culture. In 1987, a tomb with the intact rest of a Mochica governor , Lord of Sipán was discovered. It got now a Museum.

Province of Ferreñafe

City of Ferreñafe

Located at 18km to the Southeastern of Chiclayo (approximately 20 minutes by car). It was founded by Spaniards during the XVI Century. It has a main park, a beautiful Spanish Fountain and an old curch known as Saint Lucia.

Church Santa Lucia de Ferreñafe

It is located at the north of Chiclayo (approximately to 25 minutes by car) in the main park of Ferreñafe. It was built in 1552 and displays valuable wood statues and marble altars of baroque style. Architectonically is characterized by columns with angular ends that decorate their facade and two towers with hemispheric domes.

National Museum of Sicán

This is located in the city of Ferreñafe at 18 km to the north of Chiclayo (approximately 20 minutes by car). The main function of this museum is to constitute itself a research center to study in the culture of Sicán, as well as other cultural manifestations of the region. It also shows the advance of the investigations done by the director of the Archaeological Project of Sicán, the archaeologist Izumi Shimada. The exhibition compiles the devices found in the excavations of the site Batán Grande and it shows the way how these were used or made. Av.Batán Grande w/n, highway to Pitipo.

Historical sanctuary Forest of Pómac

It is located at 40 km to the southwest of the city of Chiclayo (approximately 1 hour by car). This dry forest constitutes as well a refuge of carob trees, birds and archaeological sites of the Sicán culture. In this zone it has been found 20 pre-Incas structures such as the Huaca Las Ventanas, Huaca Lucia, Huaca La Merced among others. In this place it can be seen the reserved zone of Batán Grande. Here ti was found a very valuable burial that contained funeral trousseau like crowns, masks and other gold objects

Ecological reserve Chaparri

It is the first proteted area in Peru that belongs or is conserved by a community farmer. This reserve has 34 000 hectares and is one of most important of the desert of dry forest, is a refuge for species like the bear of eyeglasses and the aliblanca turkey, both endanger. This reserve is opened to visitors who cross it by walk or by riding a horse and admire their 184 species of birds, 45 endemic ones of the region.

This city is located at 12 northeast masl of Chiclayo (approximately 1 hour by car). It is a city of very beautiful colonial architecture and it can be appreciated in its houses like the Cúneo House and the Descalzi House, however the more famous one is the House of the Lodge, in which people ca see its old carved balcony which dates back from 1600. We can see the San Pedro Church built in the XVI century ,considered National Patrimony.

Located in the Main Square of Lambayeque. It has twin towers, three naves and a arcade. Besides altars made of gold leaf, three altarpieces of neoclassic style and seven of baroque style; whose oldest piece is the Virgin of Mercedes.

Sipán

Real Tombs of Sipán Museum

This Museum is in the city of Lambayeque and is a result of the archaeological discoveries of Sipán, that presented the necessity of a museum that reunited the optimal conditions for the conservation and exhibition of the pieces found in the discovery. Its architecture is modern, and was inspired by the Moche pyramids. The museum is directed by the archaeologist Walter Alva, director of the project and also the discoverer of this burial in the archaeological site of Huaca Rajada.

This is located in the city of Lambayeque. It appeared as a consequence of the work of investigation of 48 years of the peruanista Enrique Brunning. Inside this museum, 4 levels can be appreciated whose 1.400 gold pieces, silver and copper were bequeathed by the Lambayeque cultures, Moche, Chavín, Vícus, Inca among others. It is famous for conserving one of the most important collections of gold work of America.

Archaeological complex of Huaca Chotuna

This archaeological complex is located at 12 km of Chiclayo (approximately 15 minutes by car). It is a place of because it is identified with the Naylamp Legend and the foundation of the Lambayeque culture, is formed by a set of pyramids extended on an area of 20 hectares approximately.

Pimentel beaches

Located at 1 km to the west of Chiclayo city (approximately 15 minutes). It is a modern beach that has a nice jetty where the sunrise can be observed. Here it is possible to appreciate the fishermen ussing the ancestral “Totora Ponies”,traditional raft in the Peruvian North coast from the pre-Columbian epoch. In this beach surfers practice Hawain surfboard.

Archaeological complex of Túcume

This is located at 1 km from the town of Túcume, 35 km to the north of Chiclayo city (approximately 20 minutes by car). Túcume or "Valley of pyramids" is formed by 26 pyramids such as the Huaca of the Town, the Ray, the sun and Stakes. According to the legend it was founded by Collac, descendant of Naylamp. The community has shown an special interest to preserve their cultural and archaelogical patrimony.

It is in this city where, generally,tours start and finish as well. Lambayeque attracts visitors due to The Museum Real tombs of Lord of Sipán, the Museum of Sicán and the Bruning museum, also, because of its archaeological sites such as Huaca Rajada, Túcume, Gran Batánmill, among others. we can´t forget its beaches like Pimentel and Huanchaco either.
