Chulucanas Ceramics requires specific materials and techniques in order to have very good quality and finesse. The material used for its creation is clay which is gathered from the same productive areas in the north.

From Vicus culture, it was adopted as the technique of "negative" or "reservation" which is very similar to that of Batik in which replaces the clay by wax. This technique is part of the decoration stage before being introduced into the furnace smoked conditioning with mango leaves.

From culture Tallan has retained the "paleteado", which is to conduct rhythmically beating with a wooden paddle and a rounded stone to make pottery. The paddle rhythmically hit on the outside of the vessel to be taking shape and is controlled thickness, whereas in the interior stone, a way to anvil, is pressing the clay with a palette adelgazando and shaping.

The reasons for the ceramics are often customs of the area as cholos, chicheras, singers, piajenos, etc. The role is more contemporary decorative than utilitarian. New techniques are looking to create a background glazing that allow the vessels impervious to liquid.
