Chabuca Granda Boulevard

The boulevard was built in Honor of Chabuca Granda, and is a public area created for the leisure and recreation of the Peruvian population. Daily, and especially on weekends, the people parade through the boulevard visiting its handicraft fairs or enjoying a theatrical show or music in its square. The Chabuca Granda Boulevard has become, without a doubt, a recreational area that can not be missed for a walk through the historic center of Lima.

One of the most striking places in the historic center, is the Chabuca Granda Boulevard who was long famous for the beautiful waltz composed by the great artist: Mrs. Chabuca Granda. Reason for which the boulevard takes its name.
Creation
After 16 years since the demise of the great Chabuca Granda, the January 16th, 1999 the thankless capital of Lima decided to pay a well-deserved tribute. That day people do not ceased to reach the former "Polvos Azules (Blue Dust)", which was no longer dust, to know the new boulevard which the then mayor Alberto Andrade said represent the smoothness and beauty inherent of Lima who dazzled to one of the best composers of Latin America.
Tourist Attraction
It is a artificial viewpoint from where The Station of Desamparados, the San Cristobal Hill, the Rimac River and much of the virreinal mansions can be seen. It has three amphitheaters for performances of folk music. Usually, there are street vendors who offer typical food and desserts for sale.
Characteristics
On one hand it has its small square that ensures that many people with have a view to the rímac river, this is the reason why now it is very important because the City Hall is cleaning the river in order to get a better view.
On the other side are the small fountain that is located on the side of the square. Also, the little squares draw the attention to children who can play around. Also, the park counts with street vendors that offers very delicious desserts, desserts that are very characteristic of Lima.
But what is most striking of this is the time theese street vendors are doing this activity, they have been devoted for years to this. In addition, this profession has passed over generations.
Moreover, what is interesting about this Boulevard, is the activity at night, because during the evening of Saturday there are some acts of theater or even folk music concerts.
